This clamp is a very nice addition to the wide selection of vise-grips I own. The configuration is very helpful for clamping deep into a work piece, and the pads swivel and are smooth, making it capable of delicate work. I’m taking off one star because ever since Irwin moved their production to China, the quality hasn’t been the same. I’m not saying this out of patriotism but rather from experience. Irwin vise grips are among the very first tools that I bought for myself in the early 70’s and still own and use all the time. When they started making them in China, the quality underwent subtle but noticeable changes: the adjustment screw didn’t move as smoothly, the tolerances that keep the moving parts aligned seemed looser, and the steel seemed more likely to get torqued around. I’d certainly pay a few dollars more if these were made as well as they used to be….

Working for an structural steel shop that does lots of architectural work with funky sized materials is a pain. My boss has a few of these in a knock-off no-name brand that’s compete garbage, so I picked up a handful of these and what a difference. Trying to clamp something in the middle of a 2″x12″x1/4″ rectangular tube steel is now a breeze. Granted we’re not clamping anything more than 25ish pounds with them – and probably could do more – but they’re holding up and do the job quite well.Yeah, yeah, yeah, they’re made in China. So what?! Almost all the classic American tools are now, and unless you’re okay with shelling out top dollar for American tools (which I have no problem doing myself) then great. nice for you. Or if you can – make your own! Beyond that, for the price and quality these are great clamps. In my opinion they’re just as nice as the older American made Vise Grips I bought from a swap meet years ago.

I am an amateur metal fabricator of the simplest sort and a wanna-be metal artist. (if only I could draw a decent stick man). I started out with a drawer full of Harbor Freight C-Clamps, which quickly bent in the arms and would actually push the metals I was trying to weld out of alignment. I bought a few of these Irwins a few months ago and they are fantastic. I am in the process of tossing the Harbor Freight clamps and replacing with Irwins as I can afford to do so. Great product for the money and I’m confident they’ll last a long time.

I am in the process of remodeling our kitchen (can’t wait to be done) and I knew I’d be gluing some real wood plywood to the sides of the end cabinets. To cover up the crap paper “wood” finish they came with. These clamps fit the bill so well. It was prefect to reach to the back of the cabinet, where none of my other clamps could reach, to hold the panel while the glue dried. Worked flawlessly. Little tricky putting them in place, but that is NOT a fault of the product, just the reality. This is one of those tools that you maybe hardly use, but when you need them, you’ll be glad you have them. I know I am. I have plenty of kreg type clamps, but they have no where near the reach these do.They work pretty smoothly, pretty much like any similar type of clamp.Very happy with my purchase and the price is not bad when you compare it to other vise-grip kind of clamps. Bought two, probably pick up a couple more in the near future.

Like: The various joints are fastened by rivets. in he unlikely event taht twisting and too much sideways pressure bends or breaks such rivets, they can be drilled out and replaced by bolts and nuts, or a peened bolt. Also, It is packaged in a attractive, “old school” cardboard box, so would be appropriate for gifting.Dislike: None.

Saved a lot of time using these instead of painstakingly screwing down a traditional C-clamp. They are strong and the swivel pads really give it a versatile touch. Can withstand a lot of heat without getting warped or frozen. They are a great size to wrap around pretty much anything I need them to. Very happy with these and the whole Irwin Original line!

Nothing like a Vise Grip product. I have about 60 Vise Grip welding clamps and other Vise Grip products. I have bought other products that seem to be the same as a Vise Grip but they are not!
